Our Houseboat! We were very excited to meet Capitão Elival when they went to Brazil in May, 2016 to prepare for this expedition.
Canoes like these were used daily by local guides to help researchers search for saki monkeys along the igarapés (small canals).
At night, Dr. Marsh, her team and the crew slept on the ground floor of the boat and in some very small cabins above. During the day, the area was transformed into a floating research station.
