Caterpillar - ouch?!?!
Caterpillars are common in rainforest and can be as dangerous as they are amazing. The elaborate display of spines, fuzz, and colors mean one thing: touch me at your own risk! I once had a student in Mexico who accidentally brushed her arm against a fuzzy caterpillar, and her arm immediately became so swollen that we had to take her to the hospital! We here on Houseboat Amazon are very respectful of these creatures. Foto by Juan Pablo Bueno
Not just any praying mantis: Research Palace visitor

When she flashes her wings, the "eye spots" come together making her look larger and more threatening to a potential predator.
